3 tips for your skin health

skin

Millions of people live with sensitive skin. Regardless of whether it is skin blemishes, acne, rashes, neurodermatitis, psoriasis, abscesses or something similar, the causes are often unclear and treatment methods are unsuccessful. Those affected often feel left alone and are often plagued by feelings of guilt and shame. This means that in addition to the physical pain, the mental pain also increases enormously.

Skin Health: Make peace with blemishes and acne

Shortly after I was born, I started having rashes on my skin and this developed into chronic neurodermatitis over the next two decades. My skin has been like a good friend to me for 10 years.

So that you can finally make peace with your skin, today I would like to explain to you how you can finally achieve your skin health. To do this, you can look at the three areas that make up your self: body, mind and soul. If a skin disease occurs, the three pillars have become imbalanced. I will give you a tip for each of the areas that is good for your skin. Let’s get to the root of the problem.

Skin Health: Body

Healthy gut – healthy skin

There is not only your outer skin, but also invisible skin. This is particularly important for your health – namely the intestinal mucosa. In Chinese medicine it is also said that the skin is the mirror of the intestines.

Do you already know the gut-brain axis?

There’s even a gut-brain axis. Through these, information is exchanged via many nerve pathways between the intestine and the brain – appetite, hunger and also emotions. In addition, 80 percent of your immune system is located in the intestines, especially in the intestinal mucous membranes. If your intestines and therefore your immune system are fit, it helps your skin. The good news: A healthy intestine can help allergies, intolerances and skin inflammations disappear. If you suffer from severe digestive problems, I recommend that you have an intestinal examination done to find out exactly what is wrong with your intestines.

A skin and gut-friendly diet

What you can start doing straight away is integrating a skin- and gut-friendly diet into your everyday life. This should be anti-inflammatory. This means that mainly plant-based foods should be on your menu. At this point it should be said: a vegan diet is not automatically healthy. However, animal products introduce many inflammatory substances into your body.

Tips for a skin- and gut-friendly diet:

So, above all, rule out the main suspects:

  • Dairy products (milk, cheese, butter, yogurt)
  • white sugar, cane sugar, agave syrup, sugar beet syrup
  • Finished products and meat

Reduce wheat products and switch to whole grain products. Instead of isolated carbohydrates (e.g. sugar or white flour), eat complex carbohydrates (potatoes, legumes, whole grains).

Skin Health: Mind

Subconscious – the abbreviation

Your thoughts are like rapidly vibrating energies. With this energy you can shape and change your thoughts very quickly. Every thought in turn has an influence on what you feel. And these feelings have a vibration and are energy in motion. This vibration either promotes your health or it doesn’t.

What do your thoughts have to do with your skin health?

You’ve probably had experiences in your life that weren’t easy to digest; you’ve swallowed feelings because you didn’t know how to deal with them. These suppressed energies may also build up in your body. Every symptom in your body has a special message that comes from your subconscious. Scalp problems often have to do with emotional overload and pressure to perform. Diarrhea, for example, has a lot to do with anxiety, whereas constipation emotionally indicates that you don’t want to let go of something or someone.

What can you do now to release these subconscious emotions that are making you sick? You must understand that you live 95% from the subconscious. Patterns and automatic processes have been integrated into your brain and even at the cellular level so that you use less energy. However, acting on your past patterns can be a hindrance to your healing. Because those patterns made you sick in the first place.

How to properly deal with subconscious emotions

When a subconscious emotion is triggered within you, it takes over in your body. And then, for example, itching occurs. It is important to break this cycle. So if you find a way to let out these suppressed feelings, your skin no longer has to reflect your feelings. Remember, every feeling is energy. If you don’t let this energy out of you, where will it go?

Tips for dealing with your emotions

Another step you can take today is to deal more with your emotions and reflect on the cause of your feelings. To do this, answer the following questions:

  • Since when have I had my skin problem?
  • What happened to me before? What has changed in my life before?
  • Who or what got under my skin or overstepped my boundaries?
  • What feeling could I not live out?
  • What have I longed for?

Skin Health: Soul

High sensitivity – being thin-skinned

If you have skin problems, you are most likely sensitive or even highly sensitive. This connection between atopic (‘atopy’ means allergic reactions or an exaggerated immune reaction to harmless substances) diseases (such as neurodermatitis, asthma, hay fever, etc.) and sensitivity has only recently been scientifically proven. Sensory processing sensitivity is higher in sensitive people than in others. This means that the sensory channels are constantly open and allow an above-average number of stimuli to pass through unfiltered. As you can probably imagine, a sensitive person’s brain needs more time and rest to process these stimuli. These can be stimuli such as light, noises, scents, feelings, information, etc.

High sensitivity and thin skin

Even if sensitivity is not a physical illness but rather a personality trait, this ability can make you ill. Anyone who is sensitive and doesn’t know it likes to absorb other people’s feelings and topics. Conflicts are avoided because they can hurt physically and emotions are often suppressed. Sensitive people often find it difficult to say “no” and the well-being of others is more important than their own needs. In the long run this is unhealthy.

The good thing is that sensitive people can also feel positive feelings more clearly and enrich themselves with the little joys in life. They are extremely empathetic and can therefore be very successful in social or creative professions.

Tips for dealing with sensitivity in everyday life

At this point, realize that you need more breaks. It is extremely important for your system to have space to process stimuli. The sensory overload of social media should not be underestimated either. So take time for a social media detox more often . One of the best tools for processing stimuli is meditation . Through meditation you learn to direct your attention from the outside to the inside. This is exactly the skill you probably have to learn again if, as a sensitive person, your sensors are very focused on the outside.
