chai

make chai yourself: It’s cold outside and you want to snuggle up on the sofa with something delicious that’s also healthy? Then we have a great tip for you. And this one also fits wonderfully into the Ayurvedic lifestyle.

Tea with milk only sounds strange to people who have never tried chai tea. It is no longer an insider tip among travelers to India. No wonder, because the sweet, spicy, creamy and slightly spicy taste is addictive.

Chai recipe for 2 cups

  • 6 pieces fresh ginger
  • 10 cardamom pods
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 5 star anise
  • 1 tsp peppercorns
  • 2 tbsp cane sugar
  • 2 bags of black tea
  • 300 ml water
  • 400 ml plant-based milk, such as oat, almond or soy milk

Preparation of Indian tea

Crush all the spices in a mortar, put them in a pot and briefly roast them except for the ginger. Pour in water, add ginger and let everything simmer for 10 minutes. Add plant-based milk and tea, bring to the boil again briefly. Turn the stove to the lowest setting and let the chai steep for 10 minutes. Pour through a filter and sweeten to taste.
