In 100 milliliters of wine, there are around 75 calories, in the same amount of cola, Fanta or Sprite only 38 calories – so you could theoretically drink double the amount of soft drinks to get to the same number of calories. Beer is located at around 43 calories per 100 milliliters in the midfield, half a liter has 215 calories. The higher levels of alcoholic beverages are due to the alcohol content, which delivers almost twice as many calories per gram as one gram of sugar at 7 calories per gram.

Are soft drinks the better choice?

The bill is not that simple. “Fresh drinks are in the crossfire of criticism because they are liquid calories. We don’t have a compensation mechanism that tells us to eat less after we have drunk a soft drink,” says Sara Petersson, nutrition expert at Euromonitor.

“The same is true for alcohol, if not worse, because it not only has a negative effect on our health, but also stimulates our appetite, so that we eat more.

Finally, we should pay general attention to a healthy diet. The fact is that both drinks contain calories and we should be aware of it. Is it better to do without both drinks? Of course not, because ultimately it always depends on the total calories number.

In the context of a balanced diet, nothing speaks against a glass of wine or a fanta.
