Do you have oily skin? Follow our advice for your skincare routine

Skincare

Skincare rituals are fundamental in general, to keep the skin hydrated and to slow down the appearance of the signs of aging. Specifically, in this case we focus on the beauty routine for oily skin : the one that sometimes presents itself with an oily, shiny appearance, as if it were covered by a perpetual film of grease, and other times is opaque, with pimples and blackheads .

This type of epidermis, unlike what some believe, does not only affect adolescents but also adults. It can simply depend on hereditary factors , incorrect eating habits , hormonal imbalances and so on. Later we will also analyze the most common causes!

In any case, in this situation (as well as for dry, sensitive skin, etc.) the right skincare is essential . How can you take care of your face? Read our suggestions!

Oily skin and moisturizer

There are people who think that only dry skin needs to be hydrated. Nothing could be more wrong: a condition of dehydration , in fact, does nothing but encourage the activity of the sebaceous glands, and therefore increase the production of sebum .

The important thing is to select a cream suitable for the circumstances, free of oils and ingredients such as dimethicone. Natural substances such as snail slime , aloe Vera and jojoba oil are ideal in the fight against oily skin thanks to their active ingredients.

Having oily skin doesn’t mean you should skip moisturizer. In fact, it’s quite the opposite! Proper hydration is essential for all skin types, including oily skin. When your skin is dehydrated, it can actually produce more oil to compensate, leading to even oilier skin and potentially exacerbating issues like acne.

Look for lightweight, oil-free moisturizers or gel-based formulas specifically designed for oily or acne-prone skin. These moisturizers can provide the hydration your skin needs without adding excess oil. Ingredients like hyaluronic acid can help hydrate without clogging pores, while niacinamide can regulate oil production and improve the skin barrier.

The scrub

As a rule, the scrub is not used every day but – generally speaking – two or three times a week. An exception must be made for oily skin: this remedy should be used daily for deep tissue cleansing.

The scrub is characterized by a particular grainy consistency , designed to promote the elimination of dead cells and all impurities. These accumulate in the pores from sweat, dust, pollution and so on, and prevent the dermis from breathing properly. A quality scrub also helps us against the classic imperfections of oily skin , such as pimples and blackheads.

To apply, you just need to moisten your face with warm water and distribute the product over your entire face using your fingertips. Focus especially on the T-zone : forehead, nose and chin. Finally, rinse carefully to avoid leaving residues.

The detergent

We haven’t talked about it so far, but in general a cleanser is essential in the skincare routine .

This cosmetic is necessary to clean the skin , and to free it from dirt, traces of smog and makeup. It should be used twice a day : in the morning, to wash your face, and in the evening, to remove make-up and all impurities.

The ideal cleanser for oily skin is oil-free and sulphate-free . Its action is accentuated by the tonic , which acts as an astringent and helps to tighten the pores without ruining the tissues.

The sun cream

Did you know that sunscreen is also part of daily skincare? No, this does not only apply to those who spend a lot of time outdoors: UV rays are always dangerous for the skin, as they accelerate the aging and deterioration processes of cells.

If you have oily skin, the best sunscreen for you contains zinc oxide . This ingredient is very useful for reducing and preventing irritation , inflammation and breakouts. Use this protection every morning before going out: an excellent ploy to ensure the well-being of your face!

Oily skin and causes

As we told you at the beginning, here are the main causes of oily skin .

In addition to the genetic element , which we have already mentioned, there is the hormonal one : alterations of this type are often at the basis of oily skin, and can be increased by drugs such as the contraceptive pill.

Even an incorrect diet can cause this blemish. In this case, in addition to carrying out the right skincare you must eat healthy foods rich in water. Let’s not forget, then, stress , which frequently “pushes” the sebaceous glands to produce more sebum, and the use of aggressive cosmetics which only make the situation worse.

Suitable skincare , however, really helps to limit the problem!
