Relationship barometer: Is it the love of your life? 15 questions show it

Do you sometimes ask yourself “Is he really the right one?” or “Is she the one?” With 15 questions you can check how serious your relationship is and whether you are really meant for each other.

Nobody is perfect – and that’s a good thing and should stay that way. But that doesn’t mean that you and your partner can’t still be a perfect match

Those who love themselves with all their little mistakes and special characteristics realize that even an imperfect person is, in the eye of the beholder, just right. The question is: is your partner that one person?

First of all: No list in the world can put a person in a box. You can use the list of questions as a compass for your relationship or when looking for a partner.

Of course, you can also answer the following 15 questions together with your partner. Nothing is healthier for a relationship than talking openly and honestly about values and feelings.

1. Does your partner make you happy?

It’s the little things in life that are the key to happiness. Small gestures like a smile, a hug or a quiet thank you – these are signs of attention.

It’s about appreciating and respecting each other. No one in the relationship should take the other for granted. If you can look at your partner gratefully with a smile, that’s a good way to go.

2. Are your partner’s feelings genuine?

A constant up and down in your emotional world because your partner is unsure? That can’t be right. Don’t let them play with you. In a real relationship it’s all or nothing.

3. Is your partner really ready for a long-term commitment?

Some people are afraid of love or have been hurt. Then they are currently unable to enter into a relationship.

This can be stressful and demanding for the other partner over a long period of time. You should both be able to commit 100 percent to the relationship between you.

4. Can you talk openly about problems?

Silence is not always golden – especially when there are problems. It doesn’t matter whether it’s a relationship crisis or everyday problems: you should be able to talk to your partner about any problem.

It doesn’t matter whether you talk about it all evening or briefly over breakfast. The main thing is that no one keeps it to themselves.

5. Can you be happy for your partner?

Whether it’s the long-awaited promotion or the lucky penny you found: Be genuinely happy for each other. Because happiness is greater when you share it – even if it doesn’t concern you personally. It’s important to be happy for your partner from the bottom of your heart.

6. Are you a part of your partner’s life?

Do you know your partner’s family? Friends, coworkers or teammates? If your partner values the relationship, then he will also introduce you to his favorite people with whom he shared his life before you.

Maybe your partner will take you along to his hobby or show you his favorite place. It is important that the other person’s life and the people around him should not be a secret to you.

7. Are rose-colored glasses obscuring your view of reality?

Be careful when singing your partner’s praises. Especially at the beginning of a relationship, rose-tinted glasses can easily hide one or two of your partner’s flaws. Ask yourself: Have you fallen in love with the ideal you want from your partner or are you really in love with their character?

8. Do you want to change your partner?

There’s nothing wrong with making each other better people to a healthy extent. But if you increasingly feel like you’re trying to change your partner’s entire being, then something is wrong.

In many dramatic teen romances, the phrase “I can change him” is a classic – but in real life, you should be wary of such thoughts.

9. Do you hold back to avoid hurting your partner?

In a relationship, both partners should be equal. However, that is not always possible. Does one earn more money, is more athletic or smarter? That is normal for two different people. However, it should not become an obstacle in your relationship.

Nobody has to hide their successes. Conversely, nobody should be jealous of the other person’s strengths. If you feel like you have to belittle yourself so as not to get in your partner’s way, that can’t be right.

10. Are you different when you are with your partner?

You are most beautiful when you are completely yourself. And that is when your body is at its best. However, if you have to adapt to your partner’s expectations, then that can be a sign that he or she doesn’t like the real you as much as you thought.

Even if you notice that you are actually completely different in the presence of your friends than you were in your relationship and that you want to please someone else with your behavior more than yourself, then you should rethink this.

11. Does your partner keep his promises?

If you are reliable, you not only show strength, but also earn your partner’s trust. But if what your partner says doesn’t match what he does afterwards, then that can be a warning to you. Nice words are good for falling in love, but do actions follow?

12. Do you often have to excuse your partner’s behavior?

Does your partner behave in public in a way that makes you uncomfortable? Or does your partner constantly take out his bad mood on you? Apologizing now and then can show greatness in a relationship, but accepting every mistake is not a wise decision.

13. Do you always give him one last chance?

If the relationship is facing a conflict, it is of course not easy to end a partnership. But if you know that you are better off without your partner, then don’t get carried away with last-minute opportunities just because it seems easier at the moment. A breakup hurts, but having to face this decision again and again is even more unhealthy in the long run.

14. Can you imagine a future together?

Five children, two dogs and a camper van – you don’t like that at all, but your partner is enthusiastic? Then you should talk about your ideas for life. Family planning, career ideas and your dreams should be compatible with your partner, because ultimately these topics will determine your life together.

15. Do you have an urgent desire to have children?

If you’ve been asked again at your family celebration when you’re expecting a ring on your finger and a baby in the house, then it can of course be stressful. It’s important not to let yourself be put under pressure. In the end, it doesn’t help anyone if you’re with someone just because now is the right time.

Every life is different, every person develops differently – your biological clock should not be the deciding factor in your current relationship.
